The lies of the devil are only as powerful as we let them be. He’s feeding us what we want to hear per the world’s standards and fallen nature so that he can distract us from what we need and Who we need.
Deep inside, there is an instinctive yearning for us to know that we’re worth something. That we are important. That we matter — that is why one of the questions we tend to go back to often is:
“What is my purpose?”
“What am I doing here?”
“Why do I exist?”
The gospel of Jesus Christ is so much more powerful and potent, however, as His messages tell us that we are worth dying for, in His eyes.
Children are our truest form and most honest lifetime. As children we want to impress, emulate what’s great and beautiful, we have heroes everywhere. But children are not immune to the world around us. The world we have created and allowed to be created.
“Daddy, do I look pretty?”
“I want to be like my daddy when I grow up.”
“Mum, you’re the best!”
“Look at what I made, mum!”
“Are you proud of me?”
“Is it my fault you’re getting a divorce?”
“Do you hate me?”
“Am I not good enough?”
“Why are you leaving?”
“What did I do wrong?”
Our worth and value aren’t found in this world; yet, as children we don’t know that, so we grow up conditioned to find our worth in the world we live in. I know it’s easy to want to find it within our community, our safety net and the environment around us because we can see it, feel it and experience it, however, we are a broken people without Jesus and when we’re hurt, we hurt others. When we hold grudges, sink into anger and despair, cling to broken hearts we lose sight of the fact that we need to look after each other, not break each other more.
Paul puts it beautifully in Romans 5:8 – ‘In that we were still sinners that He gave His life for us on the cross.’
Don’t look for the validation of your worth in the world. It is a fallen, rotting world for a reason. We’re meant to be building each other up, not tearing each other down.

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. ~ Romans 8:37-39

“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” ~ 2 Corinthians 12:9
“My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defence; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.” ~ Psalms 62:5-8
I could go on, but I think you get the picture.
Find your Value in Jesus’ love for you. You are worth dying for.
But God demonstrates his love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
– Romans 5:8 NIV
